After earning his electrical and computer engineering degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Gunnari Auvinen started his career. Gunnari Auvinen has worked as a software engineer for more than 10 years.
In his current role as a staff software engineer at Labviva, he has led significant initiatives, such as an analysis that guided the company in resource allocation and process improvements. He also led the design of Labviva's new order processing system and supervised a contracting firm that modernized the company's infrastructure. As senior technical lead, Mr. Auvinen designed, implemented, and maintained multiple production services and apps, including a dashboard app, accounting service, and reports manager service.
As a senior software engineer at Turo, Mr. Auvinen created a new API version that reduced payload for clients. He also developed features to assist with the collection of vehicle inspection dates, informed users of safety recalls, and secured $5,000 annually for open-source software.
At Sonian, Mr. Auvinen excelled in full-stack development, implementing features in React, Ruby on Rails, and the proxy server for the firm's View product. He optimized the product's user interface and proposed a system to reduce technical debt.
Mr. Auvinen's professional interests include software architecture, distributed systems, microservices, and JavaScript/TypeScript. Outside of work, he enjoys weightlifting, hiking, playing board games and video games, watching anime, and cooking. He also volunteers with the local food pantry program, Rice Sticks & Tea.
